Global Rhythms Music Fest
Global Rhythms Music Fest (GRMF) is a brand-new music festival that will run the weekend of July 22-24, 2011. The bands and performers will represent a diverse range of genres, with an emphasis on world music. If you love African rhythms, a big Cuban band, North American roots and folk, indie/urban singer-songwriters, blues and reggae you will love this festival. We are building on the legacy of previous events such as RootsFest, FolkFest and the Latin-Caribbean Festival and are confident that Victoria’s many thousands of music fans will be eager to support what is sure be an amazing celebration of global musical culture.
There will be two stages, running Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday. Programming will reflect the growing diversity of cultures within our region, while a dedicated children’s area ensures the whole weekend will be family friendly. And our organizers are partnering with local artisans, food vendors and other businesses to provide the kind of on-site services you expect at a major musical event.
The Venue

We are holding the festival in Esquimalt’s beautiful Gorge Park. This exceptional site, with its many trees and naturalistic landscaping, is the perfect backdrop for enjoying great music and a friendly ambience. Due to the lack of on-site parking, we are promoting alternatives to arriving by car. There are four bus routes serving the area, along with water access; other options include bicycling, walking, and park-and-ride within the township. This will truly be a “green” event.

GRMF is the dream of 30 volunteers who have a deep, abiding love of music (and aren’t afraid of a big challenge!). Please visit the About Us page to learn more.
